On Saturday morning I received this lovely little Valentine gift in the post – for those of you who are wondering it is a bath melt for relaxing in the bath.
But what makes it so special is the branding and clever messages. It follows the unwritten rule that you don’t sign your Valentine card or gift, so the receiver is left to “guess” who the sender is. But because this company’s branding is so good I knew straight away that it was from Flourish. And that’s why the branding is so great. There was no mention of them anywhere, but the green velvet ribbon, the uncoated paper of the gift tag, the font and the message: “Just a note to say that we LOVE working with you”, was just so Flourish it had to be them.
Why am I telling you this? Because many business owners don’t understand branding – they think it is for big corporates with a big marketing budget. And yes, granted, many of the corporates do their branding very well. But this just shows that you can be a small business and get it right too – by ensuring that everything pulls together and that all your communication and marketing materials have the same look and feel, you too can create a great brand for your business. And one that your customers would recognise even if your company name wasn’t present.
Of course, this is also a great example of making your customer feel special. Knowing that I warranted the time, attention and budget of being sent a gift made me feel appreciated – so much so, I wanted to blog about it!
So have you shown your customers any love today?

aaaah! Thank you Nicky. You have “got” the whole message we were trying to convey. Thank you sooo much!
Oh dear, I appear to have something in my eye.
Thank you Fiona for my gift, and stopping by to comment. It was great to have the material to create such a topical blog post today!
Keep up the good work as always!
I thought this was a brilliant way of keeping in touch with clients! It shows foresight, sensitivity, relationship building, appreciation – and my colleagues also thought so too! I particularly like the fact that the font describes the company – and there aren’t many that do that nowadays…
I agree, Alice. Glad you liked the post enough to comment – thank you.
