As regular readers will know I am somewhat fanatical about great customer service, and rarely impressed. But this week I was so delighted that I have found myself longing to share the experience with anyone who is willing to listen! So, of course, I needed to share it with you.
I went to a networking lunch at the Four Seasons Hotel in Dogmersfield, Hampshire. A really beautiful hotel, and highly recommended, but I digress…
I decided I fancied trying the valet parking, which is a great experience – not getting wet in the rain, or deciding I’d worn the wrong footwear! I was given a ticket to retrieve my car later.
On the way to the networking area the general manager, Charlie Parker, took the time to introduce himself and assure me that he wanted to know if there was anything he could help me with – by then I was already smitten!
On to lunch, and having enquired whether I preferred sparkling or still water, a small coaster was placed under my glass. I soon discovered that this was a discrete sign to the waiting staff so they didn’t need to ask me again, they just filled the glass with the correct water. A small thing – but fantastic attention to detail.
After a great lunch Charlie said goodbye and off I trotted to my car. However, like most women, my handbag has a magical way of eating things, and this time was no exception. I couldn’t find the ticket I had been given when my car was parked. I started rummaging frantically, to which a member of staff enquired if I was OK. I explained the problem and was asked if the car drawing up outside was mine. It was. The staff had taken the time to identify me with my car and swiftly bring it back. Not only that but the demist was on so the car was ready to drive away.
But the real icing on the cake for me? The member of staff who had brought my car said “I notice there is some post on your passenger seat – would you like me to post that for you?” Oh, bliss! The smile of delight lasted the whole way home.
